Welcome to Chalet Les Vernets website. Our cosy alpine chalet and newly converted (2014) apartment is available for self catering holidays in the fabulous (and little known) Beaufortain region of the French Alps. Just a few kilometres from the tourist hotspots of Chamonix, La Plagne or Les Arcs, the Beaufortain offers the same impressive alpine scenery without the crowds, ugly infrastructure or prices!
Our chalet and apartment offer good value, comfortable accommodation for up to 12 people in 5 bedrooms (chalet) and 6 people in 3 bedrooms (apartment) and is ideally placed for exploring the area, boasting 3 ski stations and some of the best downhill mountain biking in the Alps.
The chalet and apartment enjoy wireless internet access.
The chalet is set in 7 acres of mature woodland with a large grassy garden and field. It's perfect for family holidays as children can safely explore the woods (with stream and waterfall) in the summer or sledge the sloping field in winter while adults sip chilled beer on the patio or hot chocolate in front of the log burner.
Whilst not pretending that the chalet is luxurious or on the ski slope, we think you'll struggle to find somewhere better value for a ski holiday or summer trip. That's why many customers return for several years.
Winter
Winter in the Beaufortain is magical! 3 ski areas within 25 minutes of the door (Areches-Beaufort is closest at 15 mins) offer a range of affordable skiing for every level, from beginner to seasoned ski-tourer. The area gets an enviable quantity of snow due to it's proximity to Mt Blanc - almost always much more than forecast! An unspoilt French Alps winter wilderness can be explored on skis, on snow-shoes or on foot. Chalet Les Vernets is the ideal base - cosy down in front of the wood burners, or cook up a feast in the well equipped kitchens.
Summer
Unspoilt by large ski infrastructure or intensive agriculture, the area boasts an amazing variety of wildlife. Meadows filled with flowers, glistening snow-fed lakes, towering rock walls and pretty villages are the backdrop to your walking, mountain-biking, paragliding or just relaxing holiday. The Beaufortain offers a pure Alpine experience.
